Chapter 4: Open to Opportunity

Marian... what are you doing?

Playing with the kids!

Do you know those kids?

Now I do!

What do their parents think about this?

Dunno!  As soon as I started taking care of the kids, they ran off!  They seemed really happy.

Ah.  I guess I can see that.  I suppose your world isn't so different from mine after all.

:) ?

I see you've been having your friends over a lot lately.

One friend in particular!

I really, really like him, Watcher.

I can see that!  How have things been going?

Well, I've been promoted a few times, so my career is looking pretty good-

I meant with Dakota!  We all know you can reel in the bucks!  Let's hear about the stag. ;D

Ah.  Erm. Okay. ^.^;;;
Well, he dropped by during a jog this afternoon.  We were talking about our favorite bands, and he asked me to dance!  We danced right there in the living room!  It was so cute, I thought my heart would burst.

Oh, he definitely likes you.

You think so?  What should I do?

Well... you both have similar plans in life, right?  Why not talk about the honestly?  Tell him you could see yourself fulfilling both of your plans... together?

Oh wow... I don't know if I can do that. o.o

Fast forward to next day mwahaha!

"No!!!  I'm not ready!"

The doorbell rang, and Marian's heart jumped.  Her heart filled with anticipation at the thought of what she had (chosen?) to do today.  "I suppose he must be at the door,"  she thought to herself, "Why else would the Watcher choose this point in time?"

Oh, she's learning!  Hm.  I must be cautious. >.>

Marian steadied herself and opened the door.  "Dakota!" She smiled brightly, excited despite her nervousness, "How great to see you!  Come in!"

"Thanks," He smiled warmly.  The two made their way to Marian's well-worn couch and seated themselves.

"Can I get you anything?" She asked.

"Ah, no, thank you.  I actually don't have much time today.  I have some good news, in fact!"

"Ooh, what?"  She asked, eyes bright.

"I gave your demo reel to my boss, and he wants to offer you a job! A buddy of his is renovating one of the old houses into a sort of lounge.  It's going to be called 'The Oakenstead,' and it needs a high-profile mixologist," He indicated to himself with an excited smile, and Marian clapped in delight, "And a fabulous musician!" He gestured to her, and Marian's eyes went wide.

"Wait, really?  You want me to work with you? You got me a job?!?"

"It's high-profile, too.  The Oakenstead will cater to artists, officianados, and the wealthy elite.  You'll get lots of recognition- this may even lead to your big break!"

Marian could hardly say anything.  her heart was pounding so fast and her mouth was probably hanging open.

Yes, it is.

Dakota looked at her in confusion, "So, is that a yes?" He asked hopefully.

Marian was quiet for a few more moments before she sprung to her feet, "Oh my goodness yes!  I can hardly believe it!  Thank you!" She cheered, and Dakota smiled and got to his feet as well.  She spun him around by the hands in her dance of glee, and for good measure, she smacked a kiss on his adorable face.

"Oh yeah.  Nailed it."

I think you left your boyfriend in a daze, Darling.
